Getting Started

So where do I start?  How do I choose?  There are plenty of online home-based businesses out there.  But not all of them have the same thing to offer.  I'm not talking about products or services here, but rather incentives and compensation plans.  Are their products and services important?  Of course they are!  But finding a company that has both is sometimes a challenge.  You need to find a company which allows you to generate a great income for your investment of time and money while also offering a product or service that is not only greatly needed, but very much desired as well, and is value priced with fair competition. 

I myself tend to look for a business that offers all of these, along with the simplicity of having one or just a very few products which are all in the same category.  Studies have been done, and the conclusions are in!  Those companies providing one product or service tend to benefit not only the affiliate, but the consumer as well.  Ironically, the top three home-based businesses are all the same as in they support only one product... and that's it!  These are the most prosperous affiliate companies and, as a result, have a much, much higher success rate among their affiliates. 

You may want to argue that "my company has many different products... so when I might not get customers for one product, they might be well suited for some other products I have to offer."  Great.... go for it!  I have spent way too long trying to learn all the products and services that my new "Next best thing to sliced bread" company has shoved out the door that I might as well have had a JOB.  I don't know about you, but I'm NOT INTERESTED in having a JOB!  That's why I started a home business.  If I wanted to work all the time for hardly any money, then a JOB is exactly what I would have.

Ok, can you succeed in a business that has multiple products?  Sure you can!  You can probably succeed in any business you want, if you put you mind to it.  I'm just saying that a company with one or very few products (similarly categorized) will increase your success rate... that's all!  In other words, don't pick a business that promotes pills, juices, face cream, phone service, wireless, VOIP, internet, paging, identity protection, satellite TV, health insurance, travel, pharmacy cards, how-to books, etc., etc., etc., all on one website because the odds will be stacked against you.  You will spend the next ten years or so just learning all of these products, then they will change or upgrade, so you can learn some more.  Get the picture?

Oh Yeah... and one other thing!  What I'm about to say I know is going to make a lot of people furious, but you deserve the truth and it will help you make a better selection on your new endeavor.  Trust me... My Mistakes Will Save You Time & Money!  Don't be a part of organizations that require you to pay $199 (or whatever the price is) to promote yourself to the next level or title.  THIS IS A JOKE!  There's nothing wrong with being involved with an affiliate opportunity whether it is multi-level or not, as long as you can build a business relying on what YOU DO and not having to rely solely on what others do.

To Sum It All Up

I have spent my time and money learning the hard way.  I have checked out many business ventures and will continue to do so as they come about.  So anything that I may list on the "OPPORTUNITIES" page is there because it is "Tried & True".  I only suggest the businesses which have solid foundations, realistic assumptions, are members of the Direct Selling Association, and are based on all of the pros and cons listed here above.
